We are dedicated to our profession and the education of future athletic trainers. Any students interested in the program should fill out the application. Applications can be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, faxed to (805) 893-5420, or dropped off in person to the ICA Athletic Training Room in the Intercollegiate Athletics Building (across from Rob Gym and behind the Rob Tennis Courts, on Ocean Road). If you have any questions regarding the program please contact Kenna Hodeaux.
Applicants will be reviewed and considered in the fall quarter of each year:
As of September 2015 the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) only allows candidates who have successfully completed a Masters Degree in a CAATE accredited athletic training program to take the National Board Exam to become a certified athletic trainer.
UCSB currently does not hold a CAATE accredited athletic training education program. The Department of Exercise & Sport Studies (ESS), Division of Social Sciences, offers certificate programs in Sports Management, Personal Training, Health & Wellness, and Group Fitness Instruction. The ESS Department also offers independent study courses and additional minors that may be of interest. Contact the ESS Department for more information. Students interested in schools that offer entry-level athletic training education programs at the graduate-level should check the following link and go directly to the school's website for specific information, requirements, and prerequisite coursework.
