Travis Rodgers, former UCSB pitcher and longtime producer for the Jim Rome Show, hosts the debut of Talk'n Gauchos Tuesday, September 29. The show will air each week from State & A Bar and Grill from 6-7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on KTMS 1490 AM in Santa Barbara.
Talk'n Gauchos, which will offer fans a chance to win new UCSB gear and tickets to games, is just one of the many new offerings that UCSB Athletics will carry on the radio. For the first time ever men's soccer will be broadcast live on-air beginning with the October 7 match against Cal Poly.
With Talk'n Gauchos fans can take advantage of special offers on food and beverage while hearing directly from UCSB coaches and student-athletes. Make sure to join in the fun at State & A (on the corner of State Street and Anapamu) as tons of prizes will be awarded live each week including tickets and the latest in brand new UCSB gear from the Gaucho Shop. Fans will also have the chance to win season tickets to men's and women's basketball during weekly drawings.
Gaucho basketball, both men's and women's, will return to 1490 AM and 990 AM for every game and in the spring, Gaucho baseball will debut with 20 games on the schedule. Fans will hear the crack of the bat throughout the Big West season.
"We are excited to bring more Gaucho programming to our fans in Santa Barbara and the Central Coast," said Tom Hastings, UCSB Executive Associate Athletics Director. "We've added close to 200 hours of additional air-time this year and that gives fans more access to the Gauchos than ever."
Men's soccer coverage will include 11 consecutive scheduled broadcasts beginning with the Oct. 7 game against Cal Poly and carrying through the Big West Championship game on Nov. 14.
Gaucho fans not living in the area will be able to hear a live stream of the broadcast online at UCSBgauchos.com. Check back soon for a more complete schedule!
The UCSB men's soccer team, ranked No. 7 in the nation, will host Indiana on Friday, Oct. 2 in a nationally-televised match on Fox Soccer Channel. The game is a re-match of the 2004 national championship game and the 2004 Gaucho team will be honored during Friday's game.
