SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Men's soccer head coach Tim Vom Steeg and women's soccer goalkeeper Beth Ritter will be the featured guests on this week's edition of Talk'n Gauchos, UCSB Athletics' weekly radio show.
Broadcasted live every Tuesday at 6 p.m. from the Beachside Bar Cafe at Goleta Beach Park, Talk'n Gauchos is hosted by Gerry Fall – the Voice of the Gauchos.
Vom Steeg currently has his squad on a season-best five match winning streak, which has led to the team's 4-0 start in Big West conference play and a No. 3 RPI ranking, believed to be the highest in program history. Most recently, he led the Gauchos to a 2-0 weekend with road defeats over Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine. Earlier this season, Vom Steeg collected his 200th career victory, extending his record as the winningest coach in UCSB soccer history.
This week, the men's soccer team will travel north to UC Davis to take on the Aggies. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Ritter, this week's "Great Example," has been an integral part of the women's soccer team so far in 2013. Of the squad's eight wins, six of them have come in Ritter shutouts. With a miniscule goals against average of 0.65, she most recently recorded a clean sheet over Cal State Northridge in a 1-0 win this past Sunday. Earlier this year, she picked up five consecutive shutouts between Sep. 6-20.
Beth and rest of the Gauchos will host UC Riverside this Friday night before traveling to Cal State Fullerton for a Sunday night showdown.
