Lisa Skvarla is an Associate Athletics Communication Director
for UC Santa Barbara.
Skvarla currently serves as the primary Athletics Communications contact for men’s soccer, women's basketball, softball, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s and women’s water polo.
During her time at UCSB, she has driven the public relations efforts of the national powerhouse men's soccer program, helping the team garner significant local and national media attention. She was integral to the media relations operations at the 2010 NCAA Men's College Cup, which was hosted by UCSB. Skvarla has also served as a producer for the SB Awards, the Gauchos' year-end award show.
Skvarla got her start in Athletics Communications as an
undergraduate intern at UCSB during the 2004-05 school year when
she served as the primary contact for the women’s water polo
team. Following graduation, she spent a year working in the UC
Davis Athletics Communications office serving as the sports
information director for men’s and women’s water polo,
swimming and diving, and wrestling. While at UC Davis, she helped
spearhead the organization and execution of the media relations
efforts at the 2006 NCAA Division I Women’s Water Polo
Skvarla earned her bachelor's degree in communication with a minor in sports management at UCSB in 2005. She completed her master's degree in education with an emphasis in educational leadership and organizations in June 2012.
