On The Mark: The AD Report: Celebrating a Year of Success
Dear Gaucho Parents, Donors and Community,
At our annual Holiday party, I recapped for our staff the tremendous 2013 calendar year we had with baseball returning to NCAA's, men's tennis winning another Big West title, women's tennis achieving its highest ranking in 20 years, Nicole Lantagne Welch being named conference Coach of the Year while leading the women’s volleyball program to its 28th NCAA Tournament appearance, men's hoop’s big win over Cal last week, men's soccer again leading the nation in attendance while being NCAA bound and Tim Vom Steeg earning another Big West Coach of the Year award. There were also many more individual accomplishments on the trails, track, in the pool, on the fields and on the courts. We also successfully raised funds by passing a referendum with UCSB Recreational Sports students to renovate and repair several shared facilities.
In addition, we stand proudly by our accomplishments in the community with 3,000 hours of service collectively given this past year through our Gauchos Give outreach program and our incredible success academically, where we again had an impressive 85% student-athlete graduation rate, second highest in the demanding University of California system.
Our ability to achieve what we achieve comes from a campus and donors who believe in the Gauchos and the opportunities we provide. Many individuals make gifts to support athletics at UC Santa Barbara at year-end – the university's busiest gift season. Our Gaucho Fund staff with the University’s Development Office stands ready to assist. Your gift truly opens doors and changes lives as we fund vital program resources that support all 20 of our programs and 500 wonderful student-athletes.
Please contact us with any questions that you may have.
** Athletics' Gaucho Fund along with the Development Office will be open on December 23, 26, 27 and 30. Office hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our fund-raising staff of Christina Baglas, Andy Fee and Evan Stein can assist.
** As always, your gift can be made to a specific sport or to general student success (unrestricted) to allow us to help where it is needed most.
** Online Giving: Donors are encouraged to give online at www.gauchofund.com/give.
** Gifts In Kind: In addition to cash or credit, other assets such as stock, real estate or securities, can aid Gaucho programs and student-athlete support. Special instructions may apply for these gifts so please contact Andy Fee (805-893-4960) to assist.
** Huddle in San Diego: Prior to men's basketball at University of San Diego on December 15 we will host a gathering and chalk-talk which will include your game ticket for alumni, friends and parents. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP and more information.
Best wishes for a Happy Holiday season and thank you for supporting UCSB Athletics.
