On The Mark: The AD Report: A Time to Give Thanks

Mark W. Massari

A few quick THANK YOUs for this months report

THANK YOU to the 900 Gaucho Fund donors who, in 2012-13, helped us raise almost $1.3 million for athletics, including a record number 90 at the Living Scholar level of giving which pairs student-athletes and donors. The fiscal 2013 effort ranks second only to the 2006-07 year when $2.1 million was raised, highlighted by a single $1-million gift.

THANK YOU to our amazing student-athletes who achieve academically like never before on this campus, gaining another point in our NCAA graduation rate now peaking at 85% - second highest in the demanding University of California system.

THANK YOU to our amazing fans who continued to set attendance records in men's soccer again leading the nation for the sixth consecutive year. Our renewed community focus already has us 150% ahead of last season in ticket sales for what is setting up to be a magical season at Harder Stadium.

THANK YOU to the students and our great campus partner, Exercise & Sports Studies/Recreation, for collaborating with us and passing a critically needed referendum that will put almost $10-million into maintenance and renovations for shared spaces in Rob Gym, Pauley Track and Storke Field.

THANK YOU to the donors for your willingness to step up and help our vital facility projects for aquatics center, track renovation where we are campaigning to name the field for legendary coach Sam Adams, baseball's Gaucho Park and upcoming locker room for our storied women's volleyball program. Each project will transform the daily lives of Gaucho student-athletes for years to come.

THANK YOU our Academic Advisors, Kelly Barsky, Jack Rivas and those in Financial Aid along with faculty rep Jan Ingham, Admissions, C.L.A.S, Housing, ECen and my staff, coaches and your families who work so hard on behalf of our 500 student-athletes.

THANK YOU to those same student-athletes who dare to compete in the classroom, play for and represent this wonderful university, while always appreciating those who support you. You dare to be great and are.

Enjoy your summer,
