Gaucho Sports Marketing

Marketing/Promotion interns are the face of UCSB Athletics. They interact with fans and the public constantly and therefore must be professional, friendly, and have an enthusiastic attitude for promoting Gaucho athletic events. Marketing/Promotion interns will gain valuable hands on experience in marketing and fan development and learn the behind-the-scenes of a collegiate athletic event. In the year long internship interns will work extensively in promoting our ticketed sports through the fall, winter, and spring terms while trying to improve attendance, the gameday fan experience, and generate revenue for the Athletic Department.

Communications

Athletics Communications interns are the public relations agents for Gaucho Athletics.  The interns have the opportunity interact with athletes, coaches, administrators and members of the media.  They must be professional, detail oriented and have the ability to write.  The Communications office oversees and manages all of the information and statistical content on UCSBGauchos.com, the department’s official website.  Interns will be assigned sports and will be responsible for the public relations needs of those sports, including press releases, post-game recaps and feature stories.  Interns will have the opportunity to attend and work at numerous athletic events throughout the year.  Past Athletics Communications interns have continued their careers in professional sports, collegiate sports and professional public relations firms.

Video Production

Video Production interns will provide footage and features for UCSB Athletics’ regional 30 minute television show, “Gauchos in Thirty”, as well as UCSBgauchos.com.  Additionally, footage and feature videos will also be filmed and created for weekly highlight packages, fundraisingcampaigns, television commercials, promotions, and awards banquets for the UCSB Athletics Department. In addition to shooting game film, editing/filming creative features on student-athletes and teams, and creating highlight packages, interns will also hone their journalistic skills by conducting player/coach interviews, writing scripts, and researching archived information to use in videos.  Video Production interns will also be involved in setting up live soccer broadcasts for the video board at Harder Stadium, and prepare ahead of time feature videos and promotional pieces to be played throughout soccer games.

Development

Working for the Development Office in UCSB Athletics (The Gaucho Fund) will allow for interns to gain experience in event management, marketing/sales, and customer relations. Interns will have the opportunity to assist in planning events of all sizes from start to finish and also to assist in generating revenue for the annual fund, an integral component to the Athletic Department’s success.  This position allows individuals frequent contacts with donors of every level and therefore interns must be professional, friendly and represent Gaucho Athletics in a good light.

Learfield Communications

Marketing/Sponsorships interns experience UCSB Athletics through a business lens. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with fans as well as long time and prospective business partners. Marketing/Sponsorships interns will be responsible for fulfillment of sponsorships, which involves communicating with sponsors, delegating sponsorship elements and executing those elements at Gaucho athletics events.

Men's Soccer Office

This is a quarter-long intern position. The individual will assist the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator in the supervision of community outreach programs, development and implementation of marketing plans, and increasing support and attendance for Men's Soccer games. The intern will also be involved with influencing and cultivating interest in student, community and youth soccer clubs throughout the Fall 2012 season. In addition, the fall interns should be able to attend Men's Soccer games and special events throughout the Fall 2012 season. Interested applicants should email a cover letter and resume

Athletic Training

The UCSB Athletic Training Student Internship Program is dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences fo students interested in entering the health care profession.  Education for the athletic training students is the main goal.  Students will not only be exposed to the academic aspects of athletic training, but also to the clinical aspects of the profession.

Students will be expected to work in the athletic training facility and in the classroom.  Each student is expected to treat the athletic training facility as a work place.  Students will be actvitely involved in the daily happenings of the athletic training room. Students will be required to commit to a minimum of one year in the program.

Game Management Staff

Game management staff will work all home UCSB athletic events. They are responsible for making sure that all fans abide by venue policies and help fans with any needs they may have. Job duties include ticket taking, ushering, checking student IDs, and working the player pass list or will call table. Game management staff will gain valuable experience in event management and customer service. Pay is $8/hour.

Business Office

The UCSB Athletics Business Office Internship is looking for students with a willingness to learn, have initiative, demonstrate a strong work ethic and are interested in finance & accounting. As a Business Office Intern, you will gain first-hand knowledge of the workings of a collegiate athletics business office, and get valuable experience that will benefit your career goals.  Applicants must be willing to commit to the academic year, be willing to sign a confidentiality statement and be fingerprinted for a background check.  Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume.
