    Gauchos Finish Season With 4 Games This Weekend UCSB pitchers Matt Vedo and Andrew Vasquez both have broken into the school’s single-season top-10 in strikeouts and Vedo is just the sixth pitcher in school history to K at least 100 batters in a season. Vedo’s 104 punchouts (currently 5th) and Vasquez’s 95 (tied for sixth) have them just 13 strikeouts shy of tying the Gaucho record by teammates in a season. Barry Zito (123) and Bryan Noyes (89) currently hold the mark in the 1997 season. Entering this week, Vedo ranks fifth in the nation with his average of 11.75 strikeouts per nine innings and Vasquez is 26th at 10.39.
