Excitement is building for UCSB's 2013 squad, as the Gauchos have been touted in a number of national publications.
Baseball America ranked the Gauchos current freshman class as the No. 12 recruiting class in the nation, hailed head coach Andrew Checketts as one of the best head coaches under 40 in the nation, and tabbed junior shortstop Brandon Trinkwon as a Preseason All-American and the best defensive infielder in the nation.
In addition to that praise, the Collegiate Baseball News ranked UCSB's recruiting class at No. 18, Perfect Game named Coach Checketts a "Coach On the Rise," and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association selected sophomore lefty Andrew Vasquez as a preseason All-American.
