Baseball Showdown at UCLA to Be Broadcasted on AM 1290
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Tuesday night's baseball showdown between UC Santa Barbara and UCLA, the defending College World Series champions, will be broadcasted over the air on KZSB AM 1290. Gerry Fall, the Voice of the Gauchos, will have the call as always with a pre-game beginning at 5:30 and first pitch at 6:00.
The baseball broadcast will supplant this weeks edition of Talk'N Gauchos which will return to its normal slot, live from the Beachside Bar Cafe, Tuesday, March 4.
UCSB Athletics and Santa Barbara News-Press Radio will team up as the primary broadcasters of UCSB baseball this season. All Big West conference games can be heard on AM 1290 and on UCSBgauchos.com, with a majority of non-conference home games appearing exclusively online.
The Gauchos and Bruins have created a number of memorable duels in their recent history. With both teams coming off postseason appearances, Tuesday's contest should prove no different.
UCSB is off to a 3-1 start for the third time in the past four seasons and is coming off a series win at San Jose State. UCLA, ranked as high as thirteenth in the nation (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll) sits at 4-3 after dropping two of three this past weekend to Cal Poly.
Sophomore southpaw Domenic Mazza will start on the hill for the Gauchos. He went 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA as a freshman in 2013, and is unscored upon in one appearance this season. He will be opposed by UCLA freshman Grant Dyer, who is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in eight innings pitched.
