PORTLAND, Ore. - UC Santa Barbara junior Jason Willow along with a pair of incoming Gauchos, Cole Cummings and Carter Benbrook, were named to the West Coast League All-Star Game, it was announced yesterday afternoon.
Playing for his hometown Victoria HarbourCats, Willow was named to the North Division Team as an outfielder after hitting .308 with five home runs, 14 RBIs, 21 runs and eight stolen bases through 21 games. The HarbourCats sit in first place in the North with a record of 24-12.
Cummings, a sophomore transfer who hit .385 with a pair of home runs and 39 RBIs in 55 games for Pima CC last season, was also named to the North Division Team after hitting .271 this summer with 11 RBIs, three doubles and three triples for the Kelowna Falcons.
Rounding out the trio of Gaucho all-stars is incoming freshman Benbrook, a standout left-handed pitcher from Jesuit High School in Carmichael, Calif. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder is rated as the No. 16 LHP in California, according to Perfect Game, and landed on the South Division All-Star Team after posting a 2-1 record, 2.48 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 29.0 innings pitched for the Ridgefield Raptors.
The WCL All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 23 in Bend, Ore. at Vince Genna Stadium. WCL Release
