A former farmhand with the Chicago White Sox, Zach Etheredge is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at UCSB.
Etheredge joins the Gauchos after most recently working as an assistant coach for the Cotuit Kettleers of the prestigious Cape Cod League.
A two-time All-Southland Conference selection as a catcher at the University of Texas San Antonio, Etheredge will work with UCSB's catchers.
After graduating from UTSA in 2008 and holding a place in many of the school's top-10 lists, he signed with the White Sox organization.
Zach has also served as a head coach in the Texas Fury summer league organization and was also an instructor at UTSA's summer camps.
A two-time team captain at UTSA, he helped lead the team to a pair of Southland Conference crowns in his junior and senior seasons.
Etheredge left UTSA ranked among the top 10 on the school's career charts in at-bats (third), doubles (fifth), games started (sixth), RBIs (sixth) and home runs (ninth).
