A three-year player for the Gauchos from 2006-08, Patrick Rose returns in 2011 as the team's Volunteer Assistant coach. A 2008 graduate from UCSB with a degree in sociology and a minor in athletic coaching, Rose is still playing professional baseball. In 2009 he played with in the Frontier League for both the Evansville Otters and the Florence Freedom. After his playing days as a Gaucho were through, Rose played in the Colorado Rockies organization for two seasons. While at UCSB, Rose was a Second Team All-Big West selection as a senior when he led the team with a .357 batting average. He had 11 doubles, five triples, one home run, and 29 RBI. Rose also led the Gauchos with a .435 on-base percentage, to go along with 41 runs scored. As a junior he finished third on the team with a .312 batting average and ended the season within the top five on the team in six categories: batting average (.312), hits (53), doubles (8), triples (1), home runs (2), and total bases (69). A native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Rose aspires to become a head coach at the Division I level or own his own business.
