Feb. 12, 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif. -
Brandon Hennessey pitched a complete game, allowing just six hits and one run, to lead San Jose State to a 6-1 win over visiting UC Santa Barbara in Saturday's regularly scheduled baseball game.
The Gauchos, who won Friday's delayed game on Saturday afternoon, could muster just six hits against the Spartan ace. UCSB's lone run came when center fielder Matt Emerick smashed a home run to lead-off the first inning.
Gaucho starter Michael Martin was solid in his 6.0 innings of work, allowing eight hits and just a pair of runs. Reliever Justin Segal, however, struggled, allowing four hits and three runs, all earned, without getting an out.
The loss drops UCSB to 3-2 on the season. SJSU improves to 3-3.
The Gauchos and Spartans will complete their three-game series on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. game.
