Tie Game Halted After 10; Will Resume Saturday at 12:30 PM

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU and UC Santa Barbara battled to a 3-3 tie in the 10th inning Friday before darkness halted the contest. The game will resume with the top of the 11th Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Page Stadium. The scheduled game two will follow.

A 42-minute rain delay paused play in the third inning, but the Lions and Gauchos were able to still squeeze in 10 full innings of baseball before darkness ended the action for the night.

The Lions scored all of their runs in the first inning, beginning when DeAndre Miller drew the leadoff walk from UCSB starter Andy Graham. Senior Erik Johnson's single to center brought in Miller for the Lions' first run. Designated hitter Brian Wilson then doubled to left to score both Johnson and Chris Pettit, who had also singled earlier in the inning.

The Gauchos chipped away at LMU's three-run lead, scoring two in the third inning just before the rain delay and again in the fourth.

Graham worked eight innings for the Gauchos allowing the Lions' three earned runs.

Reigning West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week Brad Meyers made the start for LMU and worked seven innings, also allowing the three runs.

UCSB threatened in the top of the ninth when Mario Lewis put up a leadoff single and eventually advanced to third. But LMU reliever Daniel Macias struck out Alden Carrithers to keep it a 3-3 game. Macias finished throwing 2.1 innings allowing just the one hit.

Relievers Justin Segal (UCSB) and Roberto Torres (LMU) were on the mound when the game was halted.

Wilson (2-for-4) and Sean Dovel (2-for-3) each had multiple-hit outings going for the Lions.

The game will pick-up at the top of the 11th inning Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Page Stadium. Saturday's scheduled game two will follow. Fans can follow all of the action as it happens on Lions' All-Access at www.LMULions.com.
