Baseball Downs Columbia For Second Straight Day, 10-3

Santa Barbara, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara (12-6) topped visiting Columbia (0-13) for the second straight day Friday afternoon, 10-3.

The Gauchos, down 3-0 after three, poured on nine runs in the bottom half of the fourth to take control of the game. UCSB sent 14 men to the plate in the inning.

Sophomore lefty Jim Bullard notched his third win of the season, in a seven-inning effort. He allowed three Lion runs, two earned, on seven hits. He also struck out seven men and walked two. Jamie Gonzales and Justin Angevine came on to throw one scoreless inning of relief apiece. Gonzales fanned two in the eighth.

The UCSB offense was led by Dave Molidor and Tyler Von Schell, who had two hits, a run and two RBI each. Mike Kolbach added two hits, two runs and an RBI.

The Gauchos will play at Long Beach State tomorrow and Sunday. Game times are 6:05 and 1:00 p.m., respectively.
