Matt Emerick also collected three hits on the game, finishing three-for-five with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman Chris McMurray was the third Gaucho to have a multi-hit game. The Mission Viejo, Calif. native batted two-for-three with a run scored and an RBI on the day.
Fleming (2-4) allowed just two runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
UCSB (13-13) jumped on USC starter Shawn Olsen (3-2) early with three runs in the first. Valaika hit an RBI single, followed later by a two-run, bases-loaded single from Mario Lewis. The Trojans got a run in the second and third innings, but that was as close as they got on the evening.
