Stockton,` Calif. - The Gauchos dropped game two against the University of Pacific, 5-3 after taking game one on Friday 10-7. With the loss, the Gauchos fall to 16-15, 6-5 in the Big West, while Tigers improve to 19-14, 2-9 in the Big West.
The Gauchos scored a run in first, but quickly fell behind when the Tigers came to bat in their half of the first. They scored three runs in the first to take an early 3-1 lead. The Gauchos evened the score with two runs in the second, but that would be all the Gaucho offense could muster up.
Two errors by third baseman Dave Molidor in the bottom of the sixth helped the Tigers score two unearned run and take the lead for good as they went on to win, 5-3.
Pacific starter D.J. Houlton picked up his fourth win on the season, while Mark Short earned his third save. Phil Galer pitched well in relief, but took the loss for his second on the year.
The same two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow at Billy Hebert Field at 1:00 p.m.
