SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's Tyler Pill had more hits than he allowed on Sunday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, virtually doing it all for the Titans in a 6-1 win.

Pill went 4-for-5 with an RBI and pitched eight superb innings, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 11. The victory gave the Titans, ranked No. 22 nationally, the series from the Gauchos.

CSUF improves to 20-13 overall and 7-2 in the Big West while UCSB falls to 16-14, 3-3. After winning on Friday, the Gauchos dropped the remaining two games of the series vs. the Titans.

UCSB struck first on Sunday, when Matt Valaika doubled home Gunnar Terhune, who opened the bottom of the first with a single.

That was about all Pill allowed UCSB as Sean Williams' third inning single was it. Pill set down 14 of the next 15 hitters he faced after Williams' hit with a lone sixth-inning walk to Valaika serving as his only hiccup.

Jesse Meaux pitched well for the Gauchos, but Fullerton's lineup was just too much for the junior right-hander. Meaux (5-2) allowed 11 hits and five earned runs while striking out three. He, along with Nick Loredo and David Meals, did not walk a batter all day.

The Titans scored twice in the third as Pill's two-out single brought in Gary Brown. It was Brown's base hit that scored Christian Colon for CSUF's first run of the frame.

Brown had perhaps the plays of the game and it occurred in back-to-back batters. He doubled to right field to open the seventh, taking advantage of the bloop hit to leg out the two-bagger. Then Carlos Lopez hit a deep fly ball to left-center as Brown hustled around the bases to score on a two-base sacrifice fly.

Nick Ramirez homered for the third straight game, sending a solo shot over the left-center field fence in the fourth and Colon's base hit later in the inning scored Joey Siddons.
