2007 Strength of Schedule Ranks Ninth According to Boyd's World
Feb. 2, 2007
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - With the Gauchos' season set to start next weekend in San Jose, Calif., UCSB will face the ninth strongest schedule according to Boyd's World. Strength of schedule is the result of an algorithm designed to measure the quality of a team's season to date by combining their winning percentage with the difficulty of their schedule. The algorithm computes all teams simultaneously and attempts to take advantage of inter-regional games more accurately than other rating systems.
Joining UCSB in the Top-10 are fellow Big West competitors Long Beach State (No. 1), Cal Poly (No. 5), Pacific (No. 6), Cal State Northridge (No. 7) and Cal State Fullerton (No. 8). In addition, all eight Big West Conference teams are in the Top-15 in terms of strength of schedule.
UCSB will hit the road next weekend to take on San Jose State to start the 2007 campaign.
