Baseball Alumni Weekend Makes Minor Changes Due to Weather
Feb. 5, 2010
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Due to inclement weather, some minor tweaks have been made to UCSB's baseball alumni weekend, but it will still afford fans of the Gauchos a chance to rub elbows with current professional stars.
The autograph session with all the former Gaucho greats who have returned - including numerous major and minor league stars - will be moved from Caesar Uyesaka Stadium to the Intercollegiate Athletics building's Hall of Champions, but will still begin at 11 a.m. As an added bonus, admission is free to the autograph session.
Scheduled to attend are Colorado Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Virgil Vasquez, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Justin Lehr and minor leaguers Ryan Cavan, Chuck Huggins, Joe Gardner, Andy Graham, Brian Gump, Chris Malec, Chris McMurray, Eric Oliver, Patrick Rose, Chris Valaika and Mike Zuanich.
Also scheduled to attend are former UCSB greats who enjoyed some time in the minor leagues - Robbie Blauer, Jim Bullard, Andy Campanella and Matt Wilkerson, who still holds the Gaucho record for career home runs.
Provided that the weather clears up enough for the alumni and the 2010 Gaucho squad to play the alumni game, first pitch will be at 1 p.m. at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. If not, that allows fans more time to engage with all the former UCSB stars that will be on hand.
Baseball season tickets just went on sale, offering fans the chance to catch 28 exciting home Gaucho games for nearly half off a regular game ticket.
