Feb. 9, 2007

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The opening game of a three-game non-conference baseball series between San Jose State University and visiting UC Santa Barbara, scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, at San Jose Municipal Stadium, has been postponed due to rain.

The game has now been rescheduled as part of a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, February 10, at Municipal Stadium, with two regulation nine-inning games on tap. The series is still scheduled to conclude with a single game on Sunday, February 11, at 1:00 p.m., also at Muni.

Right-hander Loren Moneypenny (0-0, 1.80 ERA) is the probable starter for San Jose State for Saturday's game one. UC Santa Barbara is expected to go with senior right-hander Steve Morlock in what would be the 2007 season opener for the Gauchos. The nightcap should feature senior Spartan right-hander Josh Amberson (0-0, 9.00 ERA) against senior UCSB left-hander Jeff Braun.

San Jose State has an even overall record of 2-2 on the young season heading into the first of two season-long seven-game homestands for the Spartans.
