SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara's home baseball game against cross-town opponent Westmont College, scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 3 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, has been canceled because of Big West Conference regulations.
The cancellation of the game against the Warriors is based on Big West Bylaw 500.4.1, which limits the league's baseball programs to one game against non-Division 1 opponents. On Monday, Feb. 23, UCSB defeated Westmont by a score of 6-0. The Gauchos value their relationship with the Warrior program and look forward to continuing it in the future. The program also wishes to apologize for any inconvenience that this oversight caused.
The Gauchos, who defeated ninth-ranked UCLA 7-6 on Tuesday to improve to 3-1, will return to action this weekend when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to take park in the Dairy Queen Baseball Classic. They will take on the host University of Minnesota on Friday, Hawaii on Saturday, and the University of Washington on Sunday. All games this weekend will be played at the Metrodome.
UCSB's next home game will be on Friday, Mar. 6 when Loyola Marymount comes to town for a four-game series. The first game will start at 2:00 p.m.
Don't forget, for the first time ever, fans can now purchase baseball season tickets for seats located at Field Level at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium or on the Reserved Level directly behind home plate by clicking here. Every season ticket purchase comes with a free hat, just like the ones the players wear on the field.
Single-game tickets are available by calling (805) 893-UCSB, visiting the Ticket Office located on campus in the Intercollegiate Athletics Office or by clicking here.
