SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
Junior Robbie Blauer was named Big West Player of the Week after a tremendous week versus No. 20 Pepperdine on Wednesday and UC Davis over the weekend. Blauer had at least two hits in each of the four games, including a three-for-three performance on Saturday.
In the weekend series with UC Davis, Blauer (Huntington Beach, Calif.) extended his hitting streak to 10 games after going 7-for-10. For the week he connected for 9-for-14 and posted a .643 batting average, which included eight runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and his second home run of the season. In Saturday's game, the junior first baseman was perfect at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in two more to help give the Gauchos a 14-6 win over the Aggies.
Blauer's Player of the Week win is his first of the season and the second of the year for the Gauchos (Chris Valaika).
UCSB will conclude the regular season this weekend when it visits Cal Poly for a three-game conference series starting on Friday at 6 p.m.
