Several Gauchos Playing Summer Baseball

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Several returning UC Santa Barbara baseball players will be looking to hone their skills over the summer playing for various summer baseball programs.
Four Gauchos will be playing for the Santa Barbara Foresters, the top summer baseball program in California. The Foresters play their home games at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, the home field for UCSB.
Matt Vasquez - (5-10, 5.53 ERA, 16 GS, 69 K, 99.1 IP) a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Santa Barbara High School, will be one of four Gauchos to play for the Foresters who are in the California Coastal Collegiate League (CCCL).
Eric Posthumus - (6-1, 5.34 ERA, 9 GS, 48 K, 64 IP) a 2002 Freshman All-American right-handed pitcher from Santa Clarita, Calif., will also be pitching for the Foresters.
Jared Edrosolan - (0-1, 3.27 ERA) a junior reliever from Newbury Park, Calif., will be one of three Gaucho pitchers for the Foresters.
Taylor Vogt - (.318, 9 doubles, 23 RBI) a sophomore catcher from Burlingame, Calif., will be the lone Gaucho position player to play for the Foresters.
Chris Malec - (.322, 17 doubles, 8 home runs, 60 RBI) a 2002 Freshman All-American Honorable Mention and second team All-Big West selection at second base will be spending his summer playing for the So-Cal Fire, based in Orange County, in the Western League.
Matt Wilkerson - (.312, 16 HR, 10 doubles, 49 RBI) a 2002 Freshman All-American Honorable Mention as an outfielder, and high school teammate at Santa Margarita High School with Chris Malec, will also be playing for the So-Cal Fire.
Blair Havens - (.367, 12 doubles, 40 runs, 22 RBI) junior outfielder from Los Alamitos, Calif., will spend his summer playing in Europe for the Laddies, a club team based in Sweden.
Mike Sutherland - (0-1, 5.27 ERA) freshman left-handed relief pitcher from Torrance, Calif., will spend be pitching for the Gardena Knights in Gardena, Calif.
Rich Sorenson - (0-2, 9.64 ERA) sophomore walk-on from Dana Point, Calif., will also be pitching in the CCCL with the San Luis Obispo Blues, in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
