UC Santa Barbara baseball will play host to a high school all-star game between a United States Select Team and the Japanese High School National Team on Thursday, August 31, it was announced today.
The U.S. team will be comprised of the top players from the recently concluded Area Code Games. The team will include Mike Jones, a pitcher out of Thuderbird, Arizona widely considered to be among the top three picks in next June's baseball draft.
"We are extremely honored for the opportunity to host a game of this caliber," said Gaucho head coach Bob Brontsema. "Santa Barbara is very fortunate to have this opportunity."
The August 31 game will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium with batting practice starting at 12:30 p.m.
