Valaika Named to Topps Short-Season/Rookie All-Star Team

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Former Gaucho Chris Valaika was named to the Topps Short-Season/Rookie All-Star team after having a stellar first year for the Billings Mustangs of the Cincinnati Reds organization. This past season, Valaika set a Pioneer League record by hitting safely in thirty-two straight games. In addition, the Valencia, Calif. native was among the league leaders in hits, runs, RBIs, doubles and extra-base hits for the Mustangs.

Joining Valaika on the twelve-man team are: Chris Carlson (Detroit Tigers), Justin Turner (Cincinnati Reds), Josh Bell (Los Angeles Dodgers), Cyle Hankerd (Arizona Diamondbacks), Cedric Hunter (San Diego Padres), Travis Snider (Toronto Blue Jays), Nevin Ashley (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), Chris Davis (Texas Rangers), Adam Cowart (San Francisco Giants), Brent Fisher (Kansas City Royals) and Neil Wagner (Cleveland Indians).
