Annual Men's Basketball Golf Tourney Set for Oct. 24

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The 2011 UCSB Men's Basketball Golf Tournament will be played at the beautiful La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara on Monday, Oct. 24.

The always-popular tournament, which will have a shamble format, two best balls, net and gross, will begin with registration, bag drop and an open driving range at 10:00 a.m. There will be an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start and golfers will have a box lunch to eat on the course.  A 4:00 p.m. cocktail reception and auction will immediately follow the play and at 5:00 p.m. heavy hor d'oeuvres will be served and awards will be presented.

"This event is always a lot of fun," said Gauchos' head coach Bob Williams. "Our program has such great friends and boosters and this is a real highlight of the year."

The funds raised by the tournament will go towards the men's basketball Gaucho Fund.

The 2011-12 Gaucho men's basketball team is the two-time defending Big West Conference Tournament champions.  They have advanced to the last two NCAA Tournaments and will return the core of the team, including the standout duo of Orlando Johnson and James Nunnally.
