Michael Bryson ended his freshman season on a high note.
In fact, Bryson ended the year on the highest of high notes as he set a UCSB freshman record by scoring 29 points and making seven three-point baskets in the Gauchos Big West Tournament game against.
Now, for his second act, the Sacramento native hopes to pick-up where he left off in 2012-13. His 29 point game was a culmination of a late-season charge that helped him finish with averages of 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Bryson also finished third on teh team with 46 three-point baskets, the fourth most ever by a UCSB freshman.
While his season-long numbers are solid, his statistics over the final 12 games of the year are even more encouraging. Over that span, Bryson averaged 12.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He scored in double-figures nine times in the final 12 games while shooting 47.8% overall and 35.4% from outside the three-point arc.
Bryson returns for the 2013-14 season stronger and more ready than ever to become one of the Big West Conference's standouts at the wing spot.
Bryson and the rest of the UCSB men's basketball team will tip-off the 2013-14 season on Sunday, Nov. 3 when they host Cal State East Bay in an exhibition game that will tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the Thunderdome.
Great season ticket packages are available for the Gauchos. The non-conference schedule includes Cal, which will be making its first appearance in Santa Barbara since it helped christen the Thunderdome in 1979, as well as old rival Utah State and 2013 NCAA Tournament participant South Dakota State.
