SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Josh Akognon scored 20 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to rally Cal State Fullerton to a 62-58 basketball victory at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday.
Akognon made 5-of-11 shots from the 3-point line as the Titans (8-8, 2-2 Big West Conference) got their second-straight road win.
James Powell led the Gauchos (7-9, 1-3 Big West Conference) with 19 points, but he missed two 3-pointers and committed a turnover while they went scoreless in the final 2:14.
Marcio Lassiter sealed Fullerton's win with a pair of free throws with 4.6 seconds left.
UCSB led by as many as 13 points in the first half while shooting 53.6 percent. Chris Devine had eight of his 13 points and six of his nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
But the Gauchos shot just 27.8 percent in the second half while committing 13 of their 24 turnovers.
