LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ian Boylan scored a game-high 21 points and Eto Onyenegecha and Davin White added 16 apiece as Cal State Northridge beat UC Santa Barbara 80-71 Saturday.
The Matadors (11-12, 7-8 Big West Conference), losers of five straight to the Gauchos dating back to 2002, broke that streak by shooting eight of nine from 3-point range in the second half, making their final six attempts from behind the arc down the stretch.
UC Santa Barbara (13-10, 7-7) led by five, 55-50, midway through the second half, before the Matadors converted 3-point attempts on four consecutive trips down the floor to take the lead for good.
Boylan, who became the 13th player in Cal State Northridge history to score 1,000 career points, made the second 3-pointer of that stretch, one that gave the Matadors the 56-55 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Despite the 3-point barrage, the Gauchos stayed close until the waning moments.
Fullove's baseline jumper with 2:44 cut the Northridge lead to one, 72-71, but the Gauchos were shut out the rest of the way.
