Titans Catch Fire in the Second Half to End Gauchos Five-Game Winning Streak, 80-76

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Bobby Brown scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half as Cal State Fullerton ended UC Santa Barbara's five-game basketball winning streak Thursday night, 80-76.
Brown got eight of his points during a 10-point run early in second half when the Titans (13-11, 5-8 Big West Conference) nudged ahead 54-53. He also had seven assists.
Chris Devine led the Gauchos (12-12, 4-7) with 21 points and 11 rebounds. He had a double-double of 15-10 in the first half to give UCSB a 43-35 lead. In the second half, however, he made just 2-of-6 shots from the field and had one rebound.
The Gauchos had won all 10 of the previous games that they had led at the break. Cecil Brown scored seven of his 16 points in the first three minutes of the second half to keep them ahead 50-44.
But Jamaal Brown helped rally the Titans, getting 14 of his 18 points and nine of his 13 rebounds after the break.
Frank Robinson added 17 points and five steals.
Joe See's 3-pointer with 3.9 seconds trimmed Fullerton's lead to 78-76, giving him 14 points. But Bobby Brown sealed the win with two free throws a second later.
Fullerton shot 54.5% for the game, including 55.6% in the second half. The Gauchos finished the game at 41.9%, but after a solid first half in which they made 51.6% of their shots, they hit just 32.3% in the second half.
UCSB returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 25, when it hosts UC Riverside in the final home game of the season. The game, which tips at 2:00 p.m., will be the last Thunderdome appearance for five Gaucho seniors.
