SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Cecil Brown scored 19 points in what was tentatively his final home basketball game to lead UC Santa Barbara to an 81-71 victory over UC Riverside on Saturday.
Brown, a senior who has missed two seasons with injuries, plans to petition the NCAA for another year of eligibility.
Rickey Porter scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the first half to keep Riverside (4-21, 3-10) close at 34-28.
The Highlanders' Klaus Schille got eight of his 10 points and six of his 10 rebounds in the second half. David Misko added 13 points and nine rebounds as Riverside outrebounded the Gauchos 37-32.
UCSB however, outshot the Highlanders 50 percent to 42.4 even though it made just one of its 10 3-point attempts.
