Men's Basketball Stops Cal Poly-SLO, 74-65

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Mark Hull scored 16 points as UC Santa Barbara beat Cal Poly-SLO 74-65 in the opening round of the Big West Conference tournament on Thursday.
Branduinn Fullove added 13 points for the third-seeded Gauchos (18-10), who had all five starters score in double figures and outrebounded Cal Poly 45-28.
David Henry scored 15 points for the sixth-seeded Mustangs (15-12), who lost five of their final six games. Cal Poly tied a single-game tournament record with 12 three-pointers.
The Gauchos held a 35-33 advantage when they went on a 16-3 spree that expanded their lead to 51-36 with 9:56 to play.
Santa Barbara will play second-seeded UC Irvine in Friday night's semifinal. Irvine beat Long Beach State 72-65 earlier in the night.
