ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Antoine Parker made a lay-up with 35.7 seconds to play and Ian Boylan made two free throws with 16.2 seconds left to give Cal State Northridge a 61-58 victory over UC Santa Barbara in Thursday night's quarterfinals of the Big West Conference tournament.
Joseph Frazier led all scorers with 19 points for the sixth-seeded Matadors (13-15), who will play No. 22 Utah State, the tournament's top seed, in Friday night's semifinals.
Parker stole the ball on an inbounds pass and drove into the lane for a lay-up that gave the Matadors a 59-58 lead with 35.7 seconds left.
The Gauchos' Casey Cook missed a jumper with 18 seconds to play, and Brown fouled Boylan as both fought on the floor for the rebound. Boylan made both free throws with 16.2 seconds to go.
UC Santa Barbara (16-12) had a final chance to tie but Cameron Goettsche missed a 3-pointer with four seconds left.
Northridge rallied from a 44-34 deficit to take a 53-52 lead, its first of the second half, on a Boylan 3-pointer with 3:48 to play.
Boylan and Eto Onyenegecha scored 13 points apiece for the Matadors.
