Men's Basketball Wins Big In Season Opener Against San Francisco, 82-59

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Joe See and Chris Devine scored 17 points apiece to lead UC Santa Barbara to an 82-59 victory over San Francisco in the season opener for both schools.

See, who went 5-for-6 from behind the 3-point line, snapped a 43-43 tie by making a 26-foot shot with 13:17 to go, igniting a 19-2 run for the Gauchos.

Devine made six of nine shots, grabbed seven rebounds and added a team-high seven assists in his UCSB debut.

The Gauchos led 34-27 at halftime, but the Dons rallied behind a 3-pointer by Armondo Surratt and two by Domminic Ingerson to take a 41-40 lead with 14:32 to go.

Ingerson scored 17 points while Surratt led San Francisco with 20.

But freshman Tom Garlepp gave UC Santa Barbara a boost by scoring 11 of his 16 points in the final eight minutes. Garlepp also had seven rebounds as the Gauchos out-rebounded the Dons 41-30.

Alex Harris added 14 points and five assists for UCSB.
