SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Casey Cook's first 3-pointer of the season came with 0.5 seconds remaining Wednesday to give UC Santa Barbara a 65-62 victory over Pepperdine.

The Gauchos (2-2), who trailed by four points with two minutes remaining, outscored the Waves 7-0 the rest of the way.

It was the third straight loss in the final minute for Pepperdine (1-4).

UCSB's Cecil Brown scored 13 of his game-high 16 points in the second half. He made three 3-pointers, as did teammate Joe See, who scored 13 points.

The Gauchos were 11-of-25 from the 3-point line.

Pepperdine trailed 31-25 at halftime but pulled ahead 55-52 with 5:15 remaining on Alex Acker's third 3-pointer.

The Waves led 62-58 with 2:02 to go after back-to-back 3-pointers by Shaun Davis and Terrance Johnson.

Glen McGowan led Pepperdine with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Cameron Goettsche, UCSB's leading rebounder with nine, scored inside off Jacoby Atako's sixth assist, then had a dunk to tie the game with 42 seconds left.

Goettsche rebounded Johnson's miss with 11.9 remaining, setting up Cook's game-winning 3-pointer from the top of the key.
