Gauchos Crush UC Irvine, 62-45

SANTA BARBARA (AP) - UC Santa Barbara held UC Irvine to 32.6 percent shooting to beat the Anteaters 62-45 and end Irvine's five-game winning streak Thursday night.
The Gauchos (4-5, 2-0 Big West Conference), limited UC Irvine (6-3, 1-1) to just 3-of-17 from behind the 3-point line.
Chrismen Oliver, who led UC Santa Barbara with 12 points, put his team ahead for good at 8-5 by making back-to-back 3-pointers.
Greg Ethington and Aaron Fitzgerald had 12 apiece for the Anteaters.
Casey Cook improved the Gaucho lead to 34-19 at halftime by scoring eight of his 11 points in a three-minute spurt.
Michael Chambers added seven of his 10 points midway through the second half to boost the lead to 52-38.
Cameron Goettsche had 14 rebounds as UCSB won the rebound battle 40-30.
