Alex Harris was instrumental in leading the UCSB men's basketball team to Big West Conference wins over Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside this past week.
Harris, who leads the Big West in scoring average at 21.4 points per game, averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Gauchos went 2-0 to open league-play.
In the Dec. 28 win over UC Riverside, the Alameda, Calif., native scored a career-high 32 points and had six rebounds. His 32 points were 44.0% of the team's total in the 73-65 victory.
On Dec. 30, in a showdown of two of the Big West's hottest teams, Harris had 16 points, a season-high nine rebounds, three assists and two steals as UCSB ended Cal State Fullerton's five-game winning streak, 84-76.
Harris was also named the Big West Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.
