SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara will host Eastern Washington in a non-televised O'Reilly-ESPNU BracketBusters game on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thunderdome, it was announced on Tuesday.
The Gauchos, who enter Thursday night's non-conference game at UC Davis with an overall record of 13-6 and a Big West mark of 5-2, will be playing their third Bracket Buster game in the last six seasons. They split their first two games, dropping a 2003 game to Detroit and defeating San Jose State in 2006.
Eastern Washington is a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Eagles enter the week with an 11-11 record. They have split games against two Big West opponents this season, winning at home against Cal State Fullerton and losing at Cal State Northridge.
The UCSB-EWU game will pit two of the NCAA's top scorers. Gaucho junior guard Alex Harris is currently averaging 21.2 points per game, a figure that ranks him first in the Big West and 13th in the country. Eagle swingman Rodney Stuckey is averaging 24.0 points per game, seventh in the nation.
