SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
Matt Stock, UC Santa Barbara's Director of Basketball Operations for the past four years and a former Gaucho player, will join the program's coaching staff, head coach Bob Williams announced today.
"I am excited to have Matt join the coaching staff," Williams said. "He has been a very dedicated member of this program for many years and I think he will do an exceptional job for us on the bench."
In 1995, Stock transferred to UCSB after playing one season at Fresno State. After reshirting the 1995-96 season, he played two years as a guard. A native of Cheyenne, Wyo., Stock was an outstanding outside shooter and he is still ranks ninth on the Gauchos' all-time three-point field goal percentage list at 43.3%.
Stock joins a coaching staff that also includes David Campbell and Mark Amaral. With the departure of Marty Wilson, who will leave to join the coaching staff at the University of Utah, Amaral will join Campbell as UCSB's primary recruiters.
"Mark (Amaral) has had a very big role in the program, and his role will expand now," Williams said. "He will become a bigger part of what will continue to be a great staff."
Williams plans to make a decision on a new Director of Basketball Operations in the near future.
