Oct. 10, 2010
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Friday, Oct. 15 is a day made to Unleash The Loco with a triple-header of Gaucho action on tap. Start off with the women's soccer game against UC Davis at 5 p.m. at Harder Stadium, stay for the Gaucho men as they host Duke on national TV and then head over to the Thunderdome to kick off the basketball season with 10 O'Clock Thunder!
The women's soccer team will help bring awareness to the fight against cancer with its first Kick Cancer event. A specially designed pink emblem will adorn the player's jerseys and unique markings on the field will also be on display.
Coach Tim Vom Steeg will lead the Gaucho men into their nationally televised (Fox Soccer Channel) game against the nationally ranked Duke Blue Devils at 8 p.m. Two weeks ago, Gaucho fans set an NCAA record with 15,896 in attendance to watch the 2-0 win over UCLA. How about a new record?
Capping off the night will be 10 O'Clock Thunder live from the Thunderdome! Join the men's and women's basketball teams as they open practice for the 2010-11 season. Come match your skills against Big West Player of the Year Orlando Johnson and All-Big West First Team pick Emilie Johnson. Think you can get a shot off against the 7-foot-3 Greg Somogyi or 6-foot-4 Mekia Valentine? Come on out and try your luck, pick up your official Loco Fan pack and get your chance at free tuition!
