Gaucho Basketball Ticket Sales Up Sharply

Oct. 30, 2008

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Season ticket sales for UC Santa Barbara men's basketball are significantly increased over the 2007-08 season and the sale of "Cinco Packs," a customized five-game package, are also going extremely well.

Fueled by a Nov. 21 game against preseason No. 1 North Carolina, season ticket sales for the 2008-09 campaign are up more than 100 over the 2007-08 package. The Gauchos, who open the season with a Nov. 8 exhibition home contest against Cal State Dominguez Hills, play a 15-game home schedule. In addition to North Carolina, the schedule includes eight Big West Conference games and non-conference games against Utah State, Loyola Marymount, and Ball State, as well as an ESPNU Bracket Busters game.

"Our goal is to increase the visibility of all of our programs and to see the season ticket numbers for men's basketball go up is a very good thing," said UCSB Athletics Director Mark Massari. "We are also very pleased with the popularity of the `Cinco Packs,' which allow fans to see our team battle one of college basketball's best, as well as four other games."

The "Cinco Pack" is a customized five-game ticket package that includes a ticket to the game against North Carolina and any other four games on the schedule for just $75.00. More than 300 have already been sold.

Season tickets for both the men's and women's programs, as well as "Cinco Packs" for both, remain available and can be purchased from the Intercollegiate Athletics Ticket Office in the ICA Building on campus, by calling 805-893-UCSB, or online by clicking here. The ticket office will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekdays through Nov. 4, and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm thereafter.
