SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -
UC Santa Barbara has signed Chris Moore, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound center from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, to a National Letter of Intent, Gaucho basketball coach Bob Williams announced today.
As a junior, Moore averaged 10.7 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while shooting 56.0% from the field as a junior. He was selected All-Independent Division and Honorable Mention All-Cleveland Metro Area by the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. Moore was ranked by Ohio Prep Scene as the 13th best recruit in the state in 2003-04.
"We are very excited about Chris Moore," said UCSB head coach Bob Williams. "At 6-foot-9, and 250 pounds, he is a big and tough player who should give us an outstanding presence inside. Chris really works hard, has a nice shooting touch and he can run the floor. We think he is a perfect fit for our program in every way."
Moore's high school coach echoed Williams' comments.
"What UCSB is getting is the complete package," said Eric Flannery, the head coach at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. "Chris is a quality kid, a really great person and the sky's the limit for him as a player. His best basketball is ahead of him. Chris runs the floor extremely well, especially for a player his size. He is a great rebounder and he has great touch around the basket and from 15-feet in."
Moore joins 6-foot-11 Todd Follmer of Rancho Santa Margarita High School in signing with UCSB in the early signing period.
