SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara has moved the tip-off time of its Saturday, Nov. 25 men's basketball game against San Diego State from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to accommodate the NCAA Men's Soccer Quarterfinal match that will be played at 7:00 p.m. the same night in Harder Stadium.
"We are moving the start time of basketball game to give our fans and boosters the opportunity to attend both events," said Athletics Director Gary Cunningham. "These are two great events and we hope the community takes the opportunity to spend the day supporting the Gauchos."
In addition to the time change, UCSB will offer two-for-one admission to the basketball game against the unbeaten Aztecs. Any fan purchasing one ticket to the game will receive a second free of charge.
Cunningham said that the time change was made possible when it was agreed to by the head coaches from both UCSB and San Diego State.
"I appreciate the willingness of Coach (Bob) Williams and Coach (Steve) Fisher to make the time change," Cunningham said. "This doesn't happen if they don't agree to it."
The Gauchos and Aztecs both carry unbeaten records into their respective Tuesday night games. UCSB is 3-0, while San Diego State is 5-0.
The Gaucho soccer team will host Northwestern on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in Harder Stadium. The winner of that game will advance to the College Cup in St. Louis the following weekend.
