SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara junior forward Chris Devine will miss the Gauchos' Saturday, Nov. 24 home game against Montana State as he travels home to Alaska to deal with a personal issue, head coach Bob Williams announced Wednesday.
Devine, 4-1 UCSB's second-leading scorer at 14.2 points per game, is expected to travel to his home state on Wednesday and return Sunday. He scored 18 points in the Gauchos' 74-69 win over San Francisco Tuesday night.
"Chris is needed at home right now," Williams said. "Basketball is important, but as a team we know that sometimes it has to take a back seat, and this is one of those times. Chris is going to be where he should be on Saturday night. Our thoughts are with him and we look forward to his return."
