SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - On Monday the Big West Conference named UC Santa Barbara junior guard Josh Davis its first Men's Basketball Player of the Week recipient of 2004-05.
This is the first time Davis has received such honors in his career and the first award for a Gaucho since Casey Cook was named player of the week on December 22, 2003.
In UCSB's Nov. 19 victory over San Diego State, the Sacramento, Calif., native scored a career-high 18 points and also made a personal best four steals. Defensively he shut down SDSU's Chris Walton, as the Aztec forward missed all four shots and only grabbed one rebound. The Gauchos beat San Diego State in overtime, 80-72.
UCSB takes the court again on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 21st-ranked Wisconsin.
