Junior guard Josh Davis scored a career-high 18 points, had a career-high four steals, as well as five rebounds and three assists to lead the UC Santa Barbara basketball team to an 80-72 overtime win in its season-opener at San Diego State. Davis went 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-5 from three-point range as the Gauchos won despite missing two starters and two key reserves. The junior from Sacramento, Calif., also played a key defensive role, shutting down Aztec star Chris Walton. Walton played 29 minutes, missed all four of his field goal attempts, went scoreless and turned the ball over four times.
