Gauchos Place 12th at North Ranch Intercollegiate

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The UC Santa Barbara golf team shot a final round 302 and totaled 913 en route to a 12th-place finish at the North Ranch Intercollegiate at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. on Tuesday.

Russell Boring led the Gaucho effort with a 13-over par 223, tying for 20th-place.  The only other UCSB player to finishe among the top-40 was Kei Kita who was 21-over par and finished tied for 39th.

Boring's best round was a 2-under par 68 that he shot in round two.  His 68 was among the lowest rounds of the tournament and no player shot below par.  San Diego State's Matt Hoffenberg won individual medalist honors with a 2-over par 212.  The Aztecs had the top-three finishers in the Pepperdine-hosted tournament.

The other three Gauchos competing were Jordan Epstein (23-over par 233 tied for 45th), Tyler Sterk (26-over par 236, tied for 52nd) and Paul Otte (27-over par 237 tied for 56th).

San Diego State won the team title with a score of 864, five shots ahead of the University of San Diego.
