Gauchos Finish 10th at USD's Callaway Classic

Andrew Gunson shot an 8-over par 224 and was UC Santa Barbara's top finisher at the USD Callaway Classic on Tuesday in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. As a team, the Gauchos scored a 923 and finished 10th.

Gunson's best score was a 1-under par 71 in the second round on Monday. He finished tied for 22nd in the tournament and was six shots ahead of the next closest Gaucho, Brian Hollenbeck, who was 14-over par. Hollenbeck tied for 39th.

Billy Geibel (20-over par 236), Glen Scher (22-over par 238), and Tyler Weir (24-over par 240) were the other UCSB participants.

The tournament was won by the host University of San Diego which shot an 862 to finish three shots ahead of SMU, 13 ahead of Fresno State and 16 ahead of UC Irvine.

Fresno's Bhavik Patel carded an 8-under par 208 to win the individual title, three shots ahead of San Diego's Alex Ching.

The Gauchos return to action when they travel to the John Burns Intercollegiate at the University of Hawaii on Feb. 17-19.
